RYA VHF RADIO COURSE

Covers all aspects of the use of VHF maritime radio and includes training and assessment for the RYA Short Range Certificate.

First Aid at Sea
This is a beginners course which assumes no prior experience. A one day course following the RYA first aid at sea syllabus and including practical resuscitation methods and treatment for Hypothermia, sea sickness, wounds, shock, burns, asthma attacks, diabetes etc and instruction on simple dressings and treatments prior to professional help arriving.
- This course provides and RYA certificate valid for three years and includes a current first aid manual for each student.

Basic Navigation
A one day course to include instruction on tides, weather, safety, chart interpretation, use of GPS chart plotter and echo sounder, tidal streams and gates. All information will be based on 14 miles of Menai Straits from Caenarfon Bar to Puffin Island and will include detailed information on anchorages at Pilots Cove, Abermenai and Friars Bay.
- Course cost includes workbook and chartlets.

advanced levels.
Day Skipper Theory
A course specifically designed to cover all the relevant theory needed to navigate your yacht safely under normal conditions. This course provides a thorough introduction to navigation and seamanship theory and forms part of the RYA Day Skipper award. It is an ideal grounding for all crew members.
- 5 day course, £250 per person
Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory
Advanced study of navigation and meteorology, including the calculation of tidal heights, piloting a yacht safely, making offshore passages and understanding and using the weather to best advantage. Applicants for this course must have the RYA Day Skipper Theory certificate or equivalent and a good understanding of VHF perator procedures, flag signals and international regulations for prevention of collision at sea.
- 6 day course, £300 per person.
